Shaquan Sammy-Plummer

FOUNDATION

Andy Gardner was the careers teacher at LaSwap Sixth Form Consortium. After the tragic death of Shaquan Sammy Plummer, Andy wanted to share his experience with this amazing inspiring young man.

Shaquan had a relentless determination and an infectious positive energy that touched everyone around him.

Shaquan had big dreams and aspirations. He was determined to pursue a career in Human Resources.

Andy Gardner remembers Shaquan as someone who always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone.

Let us honour Shaquan’s memory by continuing to strive for excellence and spreading love and compassion wherever we go. His story reminds us that no matter the challenges we face, we have the power to overcome them and make a difference in the world.

Shaquan’s mother shared her personal experience of losing her son in our recently launched bereavement booklet: 12 memories of sudden and unexpected loss.

The Shaquan Sammy-Plummer Foundation

Shaquan Sammy-Plummer was killed on the 30th of January, 2015 in an unprovoked knife attack. He was 17 years old with a bright future ahead of him. He was nearing the end of his A levels and was aiming to start a degree in Human Resource Management. His murder robbed his family of a loving son, brother and deprived the community of a hardworking and ambitious young man.

As a result, the Shaquan Sammy-Plummer Foundation was setup by his loving mother to make a positive change in the community and in the lives of our young people. The foundation aims to fight against knife crime and also supports the work of the London Air Ambulance who made a valiant effort to save Shaquan’s life.

The Foundation's Aims

  • Provide an advice & support network
  • Create Knife Crime Awareness Initiatives
  • Educate about the dangers and implications of knife crime

Parents are unaware of the growing adult extortion ring as a result of their child being groomed. The drug dealers violent behaviour is putting the young child being exploited at greater risk.

Working with young people on bleed education, opened my eyes to what little young people know about catastrophic bleeds. The most basic human biology facts were void in the children's knowledge and understanding.
